Hi guys, I'm going to buy Guild Wars soon but my current computer probably wont play it well, so I'm going to buy a cheap ATI Radeon (probably 128mb off Ebay) to beef it up a bit before I buy a better computer later down the line. I currently have an S3 Graphics ProSavage DDR integrated, which is something like 32mb.

My question is, when I get a new graphics card, do I have to go into Device Manager and 'uninstall' the ProSavage before installing the Radeon? Do I have to take the ProSavage out or does 'integrated' mean its imbedded into the motherboard or something? I've never played around with graphics before hence the noobish questions. Thanks for any help.

I had integrated, but popped my radeon in and it recognized new hardware at startup. Its handy to dl the radeon driver beforehand so its on ur desktop. The drivers u get with the cd are prolly outdated anyways.

Using the new card all depends upon whether yoo have a Laptop or Desktop. If it is a desktop and you have an AGP or PCI slot open then yes you can upgrade. If you have a laptop, then you cannot upgrade.

You can probably drop the card in and go. Uninstalling the old drivers should, however, be done before you install the new card's drivers. You also should look for an option in the BIOS to disable the onboard video (that may or may not exist and isn't really critical).

I'd suggest a X700 PRO or GeForce 6600 GT as the minimum you should buy. Avoid lower "hundreds" numbers, like 7300 or 6200, x1300.

You might have to go into the inital setup ( a bios menu i think, it says something like "press tab to enter setup" as the computer boots)
and disable the integrated graphics.
